Companies Wave Flag in Patriotic Ad Blitz. Retailer Kmart Corp. ran full-page ads in The New York Times and The Washington Post on Sept. 16 with an American flag that said in small print: ``Remove from newspaper. Place in window. Embrace freedom.'' Defense contractor Lockheed Martin Corp. took out full-page ads on Friday in The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, with an American flag and a quote from John F. Kennedy. General Electric Co. had a full-page ad in the same newspapers, and USA Today among others, showing the Statue of Liberty rolling up her sleeves
